RiLive, Roads, and eTenders – the Applications Aimed at Smart City Citizens

As part of the Modesty project, Exevio has been developing three separate applications that involve processing and combining data from different sources. The three solutions developed by Exevio are aimed at the smart city citizens and the city administration, and will be based on the principle of a platform as a service. During the TRL2 phase of the research, a technology platform and data sets were selected to implement the concept. Technical concept of the platform was formulated, hardware requirements were specified, and the physical connection of the network equipment was completed. Connection to the network is also expected in the following phase. The leading partner of the Modesty project is Combis, while the project also includes, in addition to Exevio, Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Hrvatski Telekom, and ioLAP. The partners will develop a total of 11 products that will in their development reach the level of readiness for commercialization.

Roads Application

The goal of this mobile application is to inform the users in traffic regarding various changes in traffic during the ride itself. Aside from an option of using it while driving, there is an option of using this driving assistant application for information and research before a trip is made. The mobile application will be developed for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, which will cover almost the entire mobile device market. In addition to standard instructions on arriving to the desired destination (the application offers an option to create a travel plan and view available routes before and during the trip), the user will be able to get informed about the weather forecast and the degree of expected challenges while driving (traffic jams, impact of the weather factors on driving, speed limits, display of speed camera locations, etc.). From the remaining attractive functionalities of the application, the so-called Smart info stands out, which will provide information of interest to users such as the nearest gas station or electric vehicle charging stations, information on the nearest parking lots, and alerts (visual and audible) on upcoming speed cameras. In addition to using the application in the Croatian language, the user will be able to use it in English as well.

RiLive Application

The aim of this application is to display in one place data of public interest related to life in the city of Rijeka (forecast, public transport, traffic, entertainment, and culture, epidemiological data, news, etc.) on the searched day (this is why the application is called RiLive – Rijeka NOW). The mobile application will be developed for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to cover almost the entire market of mobile devices where the application will work, and will be available in both the Croatian and English languages. Through this application, Rijeka’s residents will be able to check weather forecast, including the bio-forecast, information on humidity and pressure, and fresh information on traffic (availability of city parking lots and their prices, traffic density, traffic works, information on camera locations that record violations in traffic, etc.). The user will be able to find out more detailed information about the public city transport, in particular schedules, bus stops, and estimated waiting time, and a special benefit will include live tracking of buses with a visual display on the map. An additional benefit will include the ability to view the city and traffic cameras Live, but also an integrated player for listening to Radio Rijeka. Furthermore, a special category will be for entertainment and culture through which Rijeka’s residents and their guests will be able to learn more about theaters, cinemas, and all other events in the city on that day. Also, it will be possible to find out relevant information on the application about the works (electricity, water, gas, traffic regulation) and read the news related to the region from the media.

eTenders Web Application

The purpose of this web application is to provide information on city, county, and other tenders. After signing in, the user selects his interests and the type of information he wants to receive. The system then notifies him independently regarding the newly opened tenders. The application will be extremely useful for entrepreneurs and will work in a responsive way, which will allow its use from all types of devices from which the system is accessed. In addition to the list of the existing tenders at the city, county, national, and European level, which will be sorted chronologically with filters according to the available parameters, next stages of the website development include a placement of information on assisting with project writing and tips on writing projects (tips&tricks). Sources of information will include the official websites of cities, counties, tourist boards, as well as official websites such as Hamag Bicra, Structural Funds, Rural Development, etc.
